Drop by
As a land with a history of 300 years, Changhua County boasts rich history and diverse cultures, and the culture of military dependents’ villages is one of them. “Drop by” is an artwork that showcases the close and intimate interpersonal relationships in Chung Hsing Village, a military dependents’ village in Changhua. It uses wooden doors, which were commonly found in the village, as symbolic elements. By combining 16 open doors and the familiar Westminster Chime, which was used as the school bell across Taiwan, it evokes the joyful moments when children used to visit their friends in the neighborhood after school. The sketches on the doors depict the furnishings of homes from the past, recreating the atmosphere of daily life in the early days. The artist hopes to use the fun and nostalgia created by the artwork to allow viewers to revisit the wonderful old times from a new perspective.
